I hate being injured. My left Quadracep is still quite sore. Thankfully there is a fair bit of improvement with the other injuries, but am still quite tight. I hoped to sleep in this morning to recover somewhat, and slept in until 8:00 am. When I looked out my window to see a sea of white, I couldn’t help myself.
I had to get out and ride.
There’s just something I love about getting out and riding in su-zero temperatures. With the right kit on you feel warm. To ride past white lawns and iced over car windows is a sight to behold on a bike.
Thankfully I took it easy, and did a 30 km flat loop around the bike trails. I had no power, and getting up any rise was a challenge.
There is a big bike race in just on four weeks at the San Mirinda Gran Fondo that I am riding. I really need to turn things around ASAP. I’ve got to stay positive & really channel all of my energy into recovery.
Winter has not gone to plan, but life is what you make of it, and I will make the most of it.
This week was a write-off, and I gave it some thought, but I could really turn it around and pull something special out soon. I’ve done it before and I will do it again.
I had a 1st birthday to go to at 11am and had limited time to ride. Like yesterday I was thankful just to have the chance to ride on such a glorious morning. I don’t know if there would have been many days I’ve ridden this winter where the average temperature was over 6 degrees, and this was the fourth ride I’ve done this winter where the temperature went into the minus.
It’s time to move forward. With less than four months remaining till our baby boy comes along I need to make the most of it.
