Whilst only short, Talaskia offers the Dandenong Ranges steepest paved section of road peaking at 33%. You’ll strain your neck trying to see the top of this one. It may look scary to climb, but if you fall off on the way up you’re in luck.
The Angliss Hospital is right across the road.
The climb begins at the intersection of Talaskia Road & Albert Avenue.
Talaskia Avenue climb
This climb was used in the 2014 Dirty Dozen, and arguably one of the toughest climbs ever used in a Dirty Dozen event. At the top of the climb is a set of stairs. Which the event had riders CXing their bikes up those stairs which are well and truly in excess of a 20% gradient. Good luck if you give that a try. I won’t sugarcoat it. You will find it unbelievably hard!
